H.C.F of 18 & 48 = \(\boxed { 6 } \)

b) 30, 42
30 = 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 15, 30
42 = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 14, 21, 42
Common factors = 1, 2, 3, 6
∴ H.C.F. = \(\boxed { 6 } \)
