VI. योग्यरूपाणि पूरयत :
- नद्याः (नदी) जले मम पिता (पितृ) स्नाति ।
- न गायत्र्याः (गायत्री) परं मन्त्रं अस्ति (अस्) ।
- राजा (राजन्) सभायां राज्या: (राज्ञी) समीपे च उपविशन्ति ।
- बालाः, यूयम् (युष्मद्) महापूरे स्नातुं मा गच्छत (गम्-लोट्)
VII. पर्यायपदानि लिखत ।
- भार्या – पत्नी, सहधर्मिणी
- राजा – नृपः, भूपालः
- पादपः – वृक्षः, तरुः
- शरीरम् – देहः, कायः
VIII. यथा निर्देशं लिखत ।
प्रश्न 1.
भोः महापुरुष, मम एतत् शरीरं पुरा पितृभ्याम् अजायत ।
कः पाठः ? सः महापुरुषः कः? कस्य शरीरं पितृभ्याम् अजायत?
उत्तरम्
परोपकारः पुण्याय इति पाठः । सः महापुरुष: विक्रमः । ब्राहम्णस्य शरीरं पितृभ्याम् अजायत ।
प्रश्न 2.
विद्यागर्वात् वृद्धान् अदूषयम् ।
कः पाठः ? स: अदूषयत् ? कस्य अदूषयत् ?
उत्तरम्
परोपकारः पुण्याय इति पाठः । ब्रहमराक्षसः अदूषयत् । तस्य पूर्वस्मिन् जन्मनि अदूषयत ।
IX. लघूत्तरं लिखत ।
प्रश्न 1.
स्वस्थ: ब्राहमण: राजानं प्रति किमब्रवीत् ?
उत्तरम्
स्वस्थः ब्राहमणः राजानं प्रति एवम् अब्रवीत् – भोः महापुरुष, ममौतच्छरीरं पुरा पितृभ्याम् अजायत । ततोऽस्त शरीरस्य गायत्र्या द्वितीयं जन्म । इदानीं भवतः तृतीयं जन्म प्राप्तम् । अतः प्राणादानात् महोपकारिणः तव प्रत्युपकरिष्यानि इति ।
प्रश्न 2.
ब्रह्मराक्षसः कथं शापविमुक्तः अभवत् ?
उत्तरम्
ब्रह्मराक्षसः विक्रमं ब्राह्मणेन दत्तं पुण्यं अचायता । राजापि तत्पुण्यं ददौ । सोऽपि तेन पुण्येन तस्मात्पापकर्मणो मुक्तो दिव्यरूपधरः सन् राजानं प्रशंस्य दिवं जगाम ।
X. दीर्घमुत्तरं लिखत ।

उत्तरम्
This story has been edited by S. Venkataramanashastri. It is choosen from the book ‘Vikramarkacharitam’. There are no authentic records about the author and title of this story. This literary composition is also known as ‘Dwatrimshat Putthalika’. Bhojaraja wishes to climb (sit on) the throne of Vikramaditya. This throne is held by thirty two dolls. These dolls one after the other describe the virtues of Vikramaditya in the form of stories and in the end, they ask him to get seated on the throne if he possesses those virtues of Vikramaditya. Bhojaraja becomes speechless, after knowing this. This lesson is one of those thirty two stories of Vikramaditya.

इयं कथा एस् वेङ्कटरमणशास्त्रिमहाभागेन सम्पादितात् विक्रकार्म चरितात् स्वीकृता । अस्य कथासङ्ग्रहस्य रचनाकारविषये स्पष्टाभिप्राय: नास्ति। अस्य द्वात्रिंशत् पुत्थलिका” इति नामान्तरमस्ति । यदा राजा भोजः विक्रमस्य सिंहासनमारोढुम् इच्छति तदा सिंहासनं वहन्त्य: द्वात्रिंशत् पुत्थलिकाः एकैकश: विक्रमस्य सद्गुणान् वर्णयित्वा, एवं विधाः सद्गुणा: त्वयि विद्यन्ते तर्हि अस्मिन् सिंहासने उपविश इति कथयन्ति । भोज: तूष्णीं तिष्ठति । तासु द्वात्रिंशत् कथासु इयं कथा अन्यतमा ।

परोपकारः पुण्याय Summary in English
Once a brahmana along with his wife while travelling in the forest caught up in the floods and crying for help like this – “Somebody, save me, please be merciful”. Then the king Vikrama was there and said that brahmana like this – ‘Hey man, do not panic, do not worry, I will rescue you along with your wife’.
By saying this king Vikrama enters the flood and brought out the brahmin along with his wife from that flood. Then the brahmin said ‘Oh king! I am grateful to you. You risked your life to save me. This body I have is the gift of my parents, it is my first life. Second life is my upanayanam (investiture with the sacred thread). Now, this is the third life for me because, you risked (fruit of auspicious work) which was earned by him on the banks of the river Godavari by doing penance for the period of twelve years – to the king Vikramaditya and returned to his village along with his wife.
In the meanwhile, a Brahmaraakshasa (a brahmana changed into a demon) approached the king Vikrama and said like this – Oh King! I am a brahmin in my previous birth. But ignored every one of the old aged men. Because of that, I have fallen in the life of a Brahmarakshasa. So please grant me your Punya which was given to you from the Brahmana. Then Vikrama consoled him, gave him all the Punya which he received from that brahmana. By using that Punya celestial form. King Vikrama also returned to Ujjaini.

सारांशः
एकदा कश्चिद् ब्राह्मणः पत्न्या सह गच्छन् नदीप्रवाहे पतितः – ‘कोऽपि करुणालुः मह्यम् सभार्याय प्राणान् ददातु’ इति आक्रन्दति । ततः विक्रमः नदीमध्यं प्रविश्य तं ब्राह्मणम् अरक्षत् । ब्राह्मणः स्वस्थः सन् राजानमवदत् – भोः, महासत्व, एतत् शरीरं पितृभ्यां अजायत, गायत्र्या, द्वितीयं जन्म, इदानीं भवतः तृतीयं जन्म प्राप्तम् । अतः मया गोदावरी तटे द्वादशवर्षाणि नामत्रयमन्त्रम् अजपम् । तत्पुण्यं तुभ्यं दीयते इति उक्त्वा, पुण्यं समर्प्य पत्न्या सह ब्राह्मणः निजस्थानं जगाम ।
अस्मिन्नेव समये कोऽपि ब्रह्ममराक्षसः तत्रागत्य नृपं अवदत् ‘हे राजन् अहं पूर्वस्मिन् जन्मनि ब्राह्मणः आसम् । तदा विद्या गर्वात् बृद्धान् अदूषयम् । अतः इदानीं ब्राह्मणेन दत्तं पुण्यं महादीयताम् । तेन उत्तीर्णो भविष्यमि’ इति । तदा राजा तत्पुण्यं तस्मै ददौ । सः ब्रह्मराक्षस; तेन पुण्येन पापकर्मणः मुक्तः दिव्यरूपधरः दिवं जगाम । राजापि स्वनगरं अगमत् ।
