→ A ‘Social Movement’ is a social platform that enables people to showcase their needs and visions. It is related to a natural resistance to social progress that is related to social mobility, changes and transitions.

→ Mob ’ is a collection of people which collects in a place and indulges in a temporary thinking, demands and the related emotional expression, this expression is called ‘Mob Behaviour’.

→ ‘Mob Violence’ is an example, of Mob behaviour.

→ ‘Appiko Movement’ started in 1983 by the villagers of salyani to protect Kalase forest, by hugging the trees.

→ “Narmada Bachavo Andolana’ was started by Medha Patkar to stop the Sardar Sarovar dam project across the river Narmada, which displaced local tribal people.

→ ‘Silent Valley Movement’ by the people of Palghat, Kerala to protest against the proposed dam at silent valley, which would destroy the ecological balance of the region.

→ ‘Coastal Karnataka Environment Movement’ was started by the people of Mangalore opposing the Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemical Limited and Nandikooru Thermal Power Plant and Special Economic Zone (SEZ)
